Elapsed time - timer

If i am right elapsed time shoud like on 820 count the time from Starting and timer the moving time. IT was like This on my old 820.

Today we had a long ride with a stay of over an hour in a tavern. But both fields showed tha Same time aswell after the Break. Am i doing something wrong? Or could it be a Bug?

Hope somebody knows.

    The elapsed timer  will be the overall activity time including stops unless you manually pause the timer or have auto-pause enabled.

    Τhats what i tried to describe. But why on my 830 the moving time (timer) Shows always the same time with the alapsed time, without me having manually or automaticely stopped the watch. And that even after a Break of one hour.

    I think you are both wrong, or I misunderstood something. Elapsed time is the time difference between time-of-day of activity end and time-of-day of activity start. Example:

    1. You start the activity.

    2. You ride for 10 minutes.

    3. You pause the activity for 5 minutes.

    4. You restart the activity and ride for another 10 minutes.

    Activity time will be 20 minutes.

    Elapsed time will be 25 minutes.

    So if you don't stop the timer during the activity, activity time and elapsed time will be identical.

    Correct, maybe my description was not very good. Elapsed time will equal activity time if you don't stop the timer.

    You are very right, my 800 and my 820 worked like This for years. Now i changed to 830. Perhaps IT is my english that i cant express very well. Lets have anotherer try:

    Old 820:100

    Start, after 1 hour El. T. 1:00 timer 1:00.

    Break of one hour: El. T. 2:00 timer 1:00

    830 

    Start, after 1 hour: El. T. 1:00 timer 1:00

    Break of one hour: El. T. 2:00 timer 2:00

    Please have a Look again.

    It sounds like what you are describing is that you want the activity timer to pause when you are stopped,

    This is controlled under the activity profile settings for the profile you are using.

    Settings -> Activity Profiles -> name of profile you wish to change -> Auto Features -> Auto Pause

    Thanks you very much! Using garmins for long years QUITE Intensiv (First one Was the xl12) , I did Not get all the setting onto the New Model. Now i umderdtand why so many users Want a settings Backup from the device to the PC, you never remeber all. Thanks again. Wink
