Climbpro screen explanation?

What am I actually seeing on the climbpro screen?

The blue line below the elevation is presumably my progress through the climb? That appears to correspond to the blue marker on the climb but what is the black line and circle just below the blue marker?

And what are the two black marks joined by the black line signifying?

Here's someone else's screen on a much longer climb where markers don't line up conveniently like mine do.

Can anyone explain please?

The 2 black lines correspond to the section of the climb that is being shown above the progress bar.

The longer the climb the closer those bars will be together as the page zooms in to a section of the climb so that you have better visibility of the profile. The 2 bars will move along the progress bar as you climb until the right hand bar will eventually reach the end of the progress bar. At that point you are viewing the end of the climb.

Virtual partner perhaps?

The VP is the white dot that is drawn below the elevation profile line.

Is the virtual partner based on the segment leaders?

ClimbPro does not use segments. The VP is based on the pace set in the course file.

Ah ok...so if you grab a random course from a site like Strava or ridewithGPS, the VP is what is in that file. Remind me not to download any pro routes!

If you enable the VP page you can adjust the the VP pace that is in the course by using the bar at the top of the page to increase/decrease the pace.
