3.50 doesn't fix my phone connectivity issue. Is Garmin working on a new release?

I'm on 3.50 and my 830 won't find/connect to the phone via BLE.  The only way I found that will allow a BLE connection is to bring up GC that's running in the background.  If I don't bring GC to the foreground the 830 won't connect to the phone automatically.  Very frustrating.  My 520 has no such issue.  Would like Garmin to acknowledge that this is a bug.

  • I have also an issue with an OnePlus 6t and the 830. Every morning the 830 is not able to connect to the phone via BT. Workaround is to enable location services and disable and enable BT on the phone. Then the 830 connects flawless for the the whole day (when needed). On the next morning the same game. I own also a Fenix 5 without any problems with BT connectivity. I assume there is something like a counter which is resetted during the night.

  • Have constant issues with garmin 810 also. almost never connects automatically, only when GC app oepened on phone.. also dmost of the time doesnt upload activities automatically. Need to restart bluetooth / GC app several times or push activities manually. FRUSTRATING. GARMIN YOUR ATTENTION PLS.

  • Firmware 4.10. I've had no connection problems at all. Edge connects with phone so far 10 out of 10 times with me doing nothing other than having the phone in range.

  • I had to reconnect my BT. I unpaired the phone. Deleted the connections on my phone BT panel. Then, reconnected. Works great. Perhaps you have already tried that. Just a thought.

  • Updated to 4.10.  Turned on the 830 and it can't find the phone unless I manually open up GC app. on the phone.  I never have this problem on the 520.  Very frustrating.

  • You might have your phone on "don't use BT unless the app is open" or something similar.

  • Issue is still not fixed with 4.10.  I hope Garmin will make this a top priority on the next FW release.

I recently bought the 830 after using an Element Bolt. This is the most frustrating Bluetooth connection ever. My local shop said I have to work directly with Garmin; I didn’t know this was a widespread issue. I wonder if I can just take it back. There are just far too many Bluetooth connected devices for this to be an issue that has lasted this long (looking at when this post was created).
