Some questions regarding paractical use

Today I made my first tour with my new Edge 830 and I have now some questions:

  1. I used a gpx-file loaded from the internet. Wenn activating this track, the 830 immediately started a long calculation and afterwards it tryd to guide me along this calculated course instead along of my gpx-track. Fortunately it showed a red line with the gps-track, but the navigation guiding showed the direction of the calculated course. Is there a possibility to force the Edge 830 not to make its own calculation?
  2. The downloades gpx file had the false direction and therefore the device showed permanantely navigation errors. Is there a built-in function to turn a gpx based course into the opposite driving direction?
  3. The navigation arrow on the map is sometimes (depending from sunlight) hard to recognize. Is there an option to change size and color of this arrow?

  • 2. Nope.  You will need to use some other tool to reverse a GPX track.

  • 3. On my Edge Explore, yes. Settings / Ride Settings / Map / Map Visibility / Map Visibility Mode: set to High Contrast. The GPS cursor changes to a larger black bordered white triangle. I suppose the 830 has a similar setting.

  • 1.: It navigated you to the start. You stated in 2 the route was the wrong direction, so on the beginning of the bike it routed you to the start of the route.

2.: The watches are capable of doing this. Im not able to get to my edge right now, but: If I select a route on my Forerunner, I can tell it to switch directions.

  • 2. If you have an account with Dynamic Watch, it's easy to upload the gpx, reverse the direction and download back to the device while on the road (if you have a connected smartphone with you). I suggest you slightly adjust the start and end points so it re-calculates along the correct side of the road. If you don't have an account with Dynamic Watch, you should check them out - it's been a lifesaver a few times. (no, I don't have any affiliation with them - I just think they make a great product).
