Once after charging the edge I synced it with Garmin Express and when I unplugged the 830 it popped up the pairing screen for RideWithGPS but I must have touched something because the screen went away. I tried to access it again but got the error 0.
I seem to be having sync issues also. Maybe related. I can sync when I plug into my PC and use Garmin Express. But if I try to sync from my phone via GC app, it mostly times out and fails. Is this another case where I need to turn off wifi?
I'm coming from an 800 so I'm mostly new to the BT/Wifi stuff.
I have to say that I really like the 830 so far. The display is nicer - I can fit more fields and they're legible. The battery seems to last a lot longer. I like the warnings like "sharp turn ahead" and such. I haven't tried navigation yet but loaded a few rides and this looks pretty quick. I've only done two rides so far but in both cases my sensors (Ant+ speed, cadence and HR) worked fine. I save the ride and 5 seconds later I get a notification from Strava that it's been uploaded.
I'm really only having issues with sync. Is it better to just disable WIFI?
I have used this with WiFi enabled and not observed any problem. If I forget to enable the phone connection it yells at me, but works once I get that enabled.
The RWGPS app won’t work without BT enabled. That shouldn’t be necessary.
My app doesn’t need BT to do the same thing. But it seems that the WiFi isn’t always turned on (on the 1030+), which means the connection isn’t there for a short while.
