Does the Edge 830 have recovery check?

My old Edge 520 had a recovery check feature - 12 minutes into a ride, a message came up on the screen indicating how well you had recovered from the previous ride.

My 830 doesn't do this. Is there any way to enable it, or has it just been removed? If it's been removed, could Garmin please look into putting it back - I doubt I'm the only person who found it useful!

  • It isn't called recovery check any more, in English it should be performance condition (Leistungszustand in German). The Unit first has to "know you", it will take a few rides for it to calculate it first. I assume you have a HR monitor connected.

After that, it should appear after 6 to 20 minutes. But to be honest: im not sure if mine showed it to me these days.

There is also a data field which shows it in real time to you.

I remember it from one of my Fenixes, but I think it was the Fenix 2?

  • I believe a power meter and HRM is needed to enable Performance Condition for cycling.

  • Did you ever see any outcome other than ‘Good’? I don’t think the Recovery Check feature is there anymore but, personally, it didn’t really add much value. As another poster had said below, the unit has other real time stats that are more helpful in my opinion.
