Edge 830 tones are very quiet

Maybe it's my hearing or maybe the unit, but I'm really struggling to hear the alert tones on the 830. The latest firmware adds a different kind of tone to the Bike Alarm that makes it a bit easier to hear, but overall volume for e.g. start & stop, sleep & powering off, etc is very low. The Find My Edge tone is so faint I can completely muffle it just by resting it on a soft surface, which defeats the purpose of it somewhat.

Anyone else have this experience, or might this be a RTM?

Agree, same here, tones are quieter than I would like - my previous Edge 25 seemed a good bit louder. I am considering adding the rear radar but would like a clear warning tone. Maybe some adjustable in a future software update.

I wonder if some units are defective. I find my unit plenty loud. But I also understand that we all have differences in our ability to hear sound.

My 830 is plenty loud and appreciably better than my 520. I can hear the beeps well above wind noise and traffic. What I believe also helped is the wide openness of the out-front mount for the 830 compared to the 520 mount. Mounting on the stem or handlebar might muffle some of the sound on the 830.

Mine is crazy quiet. Comparing to previous Garmin units (I've had a few) way quieter than a wahoo

Just my 2 cents...

On the Edge 1030 I actually did place some ducktape on the "speaker" to dim the BEEP. That one was SO LOUD. So for me it is really nice to swap to 830. Love the beep level. Discret yet easily noticeable.

It looks like the alarm sound is more quiet than the TBT sound on a route.

Just got my unit. It is also very quiet. Did anyone return their unit and get a louder one?

I have two 830s. The first was returned due to some low temperature battery issue. Both are loud enough for me.

The tone is just about loud enough to hear when your heads close to the unit on the bike.

It's too loud when you're charging it in a quiet office and it beeps on losing satellites etc

It's not loud enough for an alarm when you aren't near the bike.
