It’s often the case that there’s more than a single segment that starts at the same point - like at a trailhead, for example. With Garmin cycling computers, it chooses one of those segments and that’s what you're stuck with. If you deviate from the selected segment, like by taking a fork in the trail, you are "Off Segment" and that's it - no more Live Segment information. You're done. Pathetic.
Wahoo can manage multiple Strava Segments at once. It will choose a segment to display in the foreground but actually tracks your progress on at least 3 (maybe more) of those segments in case you turn off one of them! So when you take that fork in the trail that takes you off the displayed segment, it just switches to one of the other segments that you are now on - super cool!
Why can't Garmin be super cool like Wahoo?
