Edge 540 Calculation of ascent and slope slow and incorrect

After updating to version 28.10 and 28.11, the calculation of ascent and slope is incorrect. Noticed that on small climbs despite the change in altimetry and % positive slope, the ascent value does not change. At the end of the lap the gap to the correct ascent is around - 10/15%.

    This has been happening on my 540 as well even in 27.14. Grade and total ascent has been WAY off. I thought my ConnectIQ data field was the issue but switching to the stock grade % data field is showing everything incorrectly. Flats are registering as -% and climbs are showing as 0. 

    Correcting elevation in Strava like doubles the total ascent. Previously the difference was negligible. Please fix this bug.

    Today I did a ride that I had done about a month ago. Both using my Edge 540 Solar. Same software version (27.14).  Same 43.3 mile out and back course. Today’s total ascent was 1985 feet. A month ago it was 1601 feet.

    Hi, same issue with my new 2 monthes old edge 540. Showing negative slope even when climbing 10%. Issue seems to appear in small climbs more than in long's one. Try to reset, clean the sensor channel, upgrade the software version (from 27.14 to 28.18). Nothing changed. Standard issue from Garmin devices? Have somebody solved the problem?

    the 28.18 (and every beta except the 28.13) underreports the total ascent data (comparing to the real TA), they are working on it, just slowly.... the grade% issue is completely different thing, you need the latest topoactive maps (2025.10 ) but there are lots of situation where the road is flat but the Edge is showing -1 or -2% grade% (even the elevation value in the Edge is showing the right values with increase ) we are all waiting for a fix for these....

    yes. same issue with my 540. mounted my old edge 1000 next to the new 540 and rode a well-known false flat ride, the 1000 was displaying sensibly, like 0.5% or 1.0% while the 540 was showing between -1 and -3%. does anyone know if the 1050 has the same problem as the 540? Edit: forgot to mention than when riding the same segment in the other direction, it still showed about the same gradients. This is sooo frustrating because it worked great on the edge 1000 they fixed what weren't broke.
