To browse the device, copy/paste files is no problem, but Garmin Express won't work.
I have the 840 and running Aurura linux (Fedora Silverblue base with KDE).
I was just able to get maps updated on my device using Garmin Express through the Virtual Machine Manager/QEMU by redirecting the USB to a Windows 11 VM.
I hate that I have to do it that way, but it works.
I did get an error that the USB was already in use when I redirected it, but running the terminal command "usbmuxd -x" then trying again get it working. Not only did I update maps, but it syncs the data, too. Everything works as I'd expect, but we really need native Linux support.
I can easly sync my garmin 540 and fenix 6 with a W11 virtual machine managed with "Virtual machine manager", and USB passthrough is working perfectly. Not so user friendly, but you can without installing strange things or tweaks or ext tool from your distro.
