Using Garmin Edge 540 with Apple Watch Ultra and its Fitness App

If cycling with an Edge 540 while wearing my Apple Watch Ultra using its fitness app, and both linked to my Strava account, what data will Garmin Connect display? Data from the 540 or the watch?

My understanding from friends is this will double record the activity! I had this happen with my Specialized helmet (the crash detection feature connected to Strava) and a Fitbit. The Edge would be the more accurate device to track cycling for sure, but you'd need a heart rate strap.
