No turn by turn notifications after 21.18 update

Ran the update right before a ride (stupid I know) and was getting no turn notifications. Double checked all settings were correct. About 25 miles in the unit starts beeping incessantly telling me to "Follow Route". Couldn't get it to stop, so I turned off nev.

I thought maybe it was an issue with the ride start point so yesterday I created a short route around the neighborhood, and still nothing..

I noticed an audio setting that was turned off, so tried again today. Still no notifications. I did switch to map view and confirm GPS is following route, which it was, and I got the route complete beeps, but noticed the route process bar was not updating. Was showing 20 miles remaining the whole ride.

Any thoughts, or know if the beta might fix this?

I have the same problem. I have spent ages looking in all of the possible settings and nothing. I followed the Garmin instructions and at no point can I turn on/off notifications either in Garmin Connect app nor on Garmin Connect web, there is no option anywhere.

Garmin Support - is this a limited issue or have we got a bigger issue.

Garmin support had me remove and re-add maps through Garmin Express and that solved the issue. But now I'm low on memory, lol. I need to plug it back in and remove some old rides

I reloaded the maps but that didn't solve the problem. After playing around with my Garmin I imported a route from RidewithGPS which had the Turn Notification option available and this was also displayed the home page for the courses and the course type was Road Cycling. I then opened another route which didn't have it displayed and went to the edit page and the only time the Turn Notification option was available was when I chose any option other than a cycling related one, ie running, other, etc.

For my club rides a route is created on RidewithGPS and I download it to Garmin Connect. I only have a free Ride account so the option to click the Notify before turn is not avaialble to me. Is the Turn Notification option embeded in the file so can only be turned on and off if it is or does it not depend on how it was created.

so it seems that the "road cycling" category has some problems with the turn notifications - by switching the category to "other" I am able to see turn notifications button

The RWGPS file turn notifications are actually course point text messages embedded in the tcx or fit file. The Notify before Turn feature offsets the messages so they pop up before the turn instead of right on it. The true turn by turn navigation (TBT) is calculated by the Edge. If you have course point display and TBT both on, there will be two sets of messages displayed.

The two courses I had issues with used the Gravel and MTB types, so it wasn't a road cycling issue for me.

None of the cycling related options, road, gravel or MTB worked for me only the other options.

One thing I did notice is the route that has Turn Notifications turned on and visible is saved as 'cycling' whereas the only option Garmin offer is 'road cycling, gravel or mtb' when I have imported a route. I have only just moved to Garmin so I am not totally up on their system but have Garmin changed from just cycling to these 3 options and this is causing the issue?
