Power meter (ANT+) dropping & reconnecting after update to 21.16 (not fixed by 21.17)

After updating my Garmin Edge 540 to 21.16, my Favero Assioma Uno power meter didn't work anymore. During rides I frequently get a pop-up showing "Power meter connected" and then it immediatelt drops again. The issue was not fixed by updating to 21.17. Using the power meter via BLE is a workaround, but the connection via BLE seems to be more unstable than ANT+. Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

  • delete all paired power sensor from the Edge sensor menu, restart the unit (long press and hold the power button until it restart by itself), and pair it only via ANT+ (probably it will offer on both protocol, use only the ANT+, and disable the BT if it is automatically paired (btw disable the auto-sensor pairing, if i remember good, there is such a setting there, it always search and pair the nearby (and not-known, not-paired) sensors automatically .) and pls check do not pair your Assioma to your mobile BT (in the mobile BT menu), because the dual dataflow in same time can reduce the signal strength (and quality) and can cause issues in certain situation. and at 1st try your Edge without phone BT off (so do not enabled the BT connection to your phone, let it be OFF), if it is stable without it, then try to enable and try together. Btw, do you have any other  spec. ANT+ sensors paired, i mean DI2 or Varia?

  • Thanks, Luko79 for the tips, I followed the steps but none of them worked. I removed all sensors, also the Di2 and HRM and only added the pwoer meter. I also installed 21.18 today but the issue is still there. I still get the messages “power meter connected” and “power meter low battery” but power = 0 and cadence = - -.

    Is there a way to downgrade to an earliee software version when all sensors worked fine? Can ‘t seem to find that online…

  • Hi, thank you for the help. Unfortunately, copying the GCD file with the 19.22 SW to the Garmin directory doesn't do anything. Guess I'll just have to wait and hope they fix the issue in one of the next updates...

  • Am experiencing the same with a edge 1040. Favero suggested to correctly paire to the bike computer via ANT+ by following these steps:
    delete all the Favero Duo sensors previously saved in your bike computer;
    - connect both pedals to the Favero Assioma App;
    - keeping the pedals connected to the App Favero Assioma (keep the app opened), connect the left one to your bike computer (in this way the connection should be via ANT+, considering the Bluetooth is kept busy by the App Favero Assioma). The right pedal will be automatically found during rides.

    This solved the more major drops for me. However I still have 1 sec. "--.--" readings at an irregular frequency during my rides.
