Garmin Edge 540 solar - reboot during activity and full storage notification

I was at training today. The course was uploaded (140km). At 45km the device notified me that the device memory was full (?) and after next 4km the device turned off and then turned on again with stopped my activity. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Yep, it has happened multiple times to me but only experienced on my longer rides (40-65 miles). Following manual on how to delete old rides and such but there's a problem with that. Currently working with support but so far it appears there's no easy fix. One suggestion from them was to do a factory reset but I've not been willing to do that.
