Edge 540 is connects but does not sync.

I create a new Course in Connect on my PC. The new course appears in Connect on both my iPhone and iPad.
Phone states “ready to roll.  Your course will be available when your Edge completes syncing”.  
New course does not appear in Course list.
Have tried switching Bluetooth off an on and phone off and on. 
The reason I bought the Edge rather than stay with Wahoo was for quick uploading of Courses.

    I think i had the same problem. So the course appears in Garmin Connect, but does not show up on the edge (even when i tried to load the course via garmin connect tot the device), while training plans (from trainingpeaks) are still syncing to garmin connect, and from there to the device. So there's something wrong with the courses on the device i tought. So i connected my edge to my PC, and cutted/deleted all the courses in the courses map (garmin > courses), so the map is empty. Then i unplugged the edge from USB, and turned it on. Then i was able to load a new course from garmin connect to the device...

    I think there was a corrupt course (or better: the device had a problem with one of my courses), and it always got stuck when trying to load and sync newer courses.
