New Edge 540 has historic ride data

Just bought brand new Edge 540 and have gone through the steps to set it up and synced with my Garmin Connect app. It appeared to be brand new / factory reset, as I had to set up lanauge etc.

Whilst looking through the history on the device, I can see that there are quite a few rides that have nothing to do with me. When i go into them, they have a source of 'Edge 830' which I have never owned.

Whilst in the history, when I go into these rides, there is a 'Summary' and 'Training Effect' however I cannot select / view these, as none of the buttons do anything?

These rides are not on my Garmin Connect / garmin fenix7.

Is there a way to remove these or do a complete factory reset to remove the historic data?

  • I agree with the above. I just purchase a new Garmin 540 and did all the set up and synced with Garmin Connect on my iPhone. I noticed I have 31 rides from a past Garmin that I had. My new 540 won't let me delete them. These rides are no longer on my old device BUT they are still in Garmin Connect and when I go through the complete delete of all old data and set up...when I start over and do the auto picture take of Garmin Connect QR code and It puts the rides back on my new Garmin 540 and I can't delete them. I spent hours with a tech person on phone and still no solution. Anyone else have this problem?

  • That is likely ride summary data used to compute training load etc.

    If you don't want them on their you need to switch off physio true up. The files are located in the Garmin\Summary folder.

  • I have the same issue as well, my running activites from my forerunner 245 which was already emptied since february as well as my ride activities on my edge130 plus appears on my edge 540 and cannot be deleted. I tried the following. 

    1. Updated the edge 540 software version to latest, which was as per review includes true up delete function however it is not functioning.  The trash symbol were there but no confirmation.

    2. Perform removed device both edge130 and 540 on garmin connect then do device reset on both units. Upon adding of device activity history went back to edge540.

    3. Perform ride on 130, sync to connect then delete the activity on my 130 then turn off the unit. Open my 540, activity files appears on my 540 history logs. Which means regardless you factory reset both units. Activity data history will still record to edge540.

    Like others recommendations, best solution is to temporary disabled physio true up feature on edge 540. While waiting for another update that works. 

  • What is physio true up? AFAIK I've never used it. The last 45 activities from Edge 530 were auto loaded onto my new Edge 540. Selecting the delete icon does nothing. I have deleted the 45 files in the Garmin/Summary folder, and now they are gone.
