Workout Difficulty / Intensity Settings

Hi

New owner of the Edge 540 and am finding the user interface / usability of the device rather sub par compared to my last device. I've managed to wrangle with most settings to get to what i want but the following isn't clear to me.

Is there a way to increase or decrease the intensity / difficulty (i.e. 105% or 90% etc of target power) of a workout on the device during the workout?

i.e. on days when i feel better or worse than ideal and can either turn it up a little or need to dial it back a little to complete the intervals. 

On my prior device, it was rather easy to do this but on the edge 540 i've not found anything.
