Auto-brightness is too low

Yes the auto brightness is too low. Whenever i go into a tunnel or underpass it is very hard to see. It is fine in the sunlight lol

I have the same problem. Screen is super dark at auto brightness. Considering returining the unit to the store.

backlight should be disabled under the sun and then get brighter when ambient light is darker.

Just got my Edge 540 yesterday and the low brightness (on auto-mode) was the first thing I noticed. 

Kkrrock25, thanks for adding your experience with your Edge 540 to this long list of us who are experiencing the same problem. I bought the Edge 840 - Non Solar when it first came out and immediately noticed the brightness issue compared to my previous Edge 530. As you can see this has been a long standing issue that Garmin has never addressed or tried to fix. Very frustrating…. If it is really bothersome for you I suggest you return your 540 while you still can and purchase a different brand.  I say this because I do not believe that Garmin will ever fix this problem. They have had over a year and done nothing. My next bike computer purchase will NOT be Garmin!  Thx. Lou

Thanks for your input. I will think about it. Actually, a small software update would solve this easily. 

You are welcome.  I keep thinking the same re the software upgrade but they have not done it yet and it has been over a year now....  Hope you are correct and they fix this soon.
