If you are freeriding (not following a course), then your actual position is the extreme right, as everything you see is your history, what you've done. If you are riding a course, you will see your position at roughly 1/3 from the left marked from above, with the Virtual Partner marked below (the VP is the "lollipop"). (I'm guessing at 1/3, for your position, can't remember exactly).
At any rate, elevation is always only your history unless following a route/course.
