Map update 2025.10 not showing up in Garmin Express

Today was announced that topoactive maps 2025.10 will replace the older 2024.20 cycling map. These have a annoying bug where edge *30 devices cannot reroute or route to a saved location, unless popularity routing option was disabled. (This was not the case with 2024.10) 

So I was happy to read that the bug was confirmed and solved in 2025.10.

I succesfully updated my Fenix 7 watch to 2025.10 but after connecting my edge530 I get a "Synchronisation with Garmin Connect failed" error, and only the trailforks map is showing up. No 2025.10 update but also the currently installed 2024.20 map is not shown anymore. 

Garmin Express is up to date 7.25.0 + , edge firmware 9.75 too.

I hope this will be solved in the comming days but nevertheless I wanted to let people know that there's an issue going on with this update. (From my perspective)

  • Check region. Maybe it tries to install other areas too. EU only is ~10GB. Contact Garmin Support if you can't figure out. 

  • Update: after the cleanup/reinstall maps and recreating the courses, climb pro worked flawlessly in my 530.

  • I am having same issue, tried to update, don't have enough memory to do so, as you point out want's 19G and the device only has 15G to begin with! The only data I could find to delete were my (already) downloaded activities? Anyone have a solution from Garmin on this (I'm in US and only need US maps on this device as I have all EU on my 1040, which went ok, but still waiting to hear back from Garmin on why Map Manager on the 1040 does not align with GE)

  • Hi, How can I cleanup and reinstall map's? I update maps to 2025.10, but in garmin express, still says that I have new map update :\

  • Just follow garmin instructions. This is for previous gen devices. It will continue to ask for map update afterwards. In my case it solved the climb pro issue and cleared some space.

  • I chatted with Garmin support today regarding issue with TopoActive updates. Support had me manually delete all map related files which basically cleaned off my Edge 530. Total space ~15G, NA Maps take ~12G, GE wanted 20G to install!! Resolution is to send device back to Garmin for exchange (no charge). In process of doing so. I'll be anxious to see what the replacement comes with for preloaded maps and if I need to update to TopoActive...BTW, Garmin chat support was great, even though he was scratching his head too!!

  • I had to sent back my devive too. The map issue were I had no detaill anymore was solved. But the download issue where garmin express keeps pushing the new topo active download not. And topo active is still not vissible in express. For the rest everything works fine on my edge. 

  • hi! it turned out that my PC was out of storage and the PC needed 19GB free space, so after I did a clean up and reconnected the Edge, it upgrade the map without any problem. Actually now the navigation seems to be better, I've constantly had issues eith it, it was basicly useless. 

  • Ha!!! Computer disc space appears to have been my issue too! I am currently syncing with my MacBook, which has tons of free disc space. I was wondering, but when the Garmin service support didn’t mention, figured that wasn’t the issue! Now trying to find what I can clean off my PC to get 20G :) Thanks for the update!!!
