Map update 2025.10 not showing up in Garmin Express

Today was announced that topoactive maps 2025.10 will replace the older 2024.20 cycling map. These have a annoying bug where edge *30 devices cannot reroute or route to a saved location, unless popularity routing option was disabled. (This was not the case with 2024.10)

So I was happy to read that the bug was confirmed and solved in 2025.10.

I succesfully updated my Fenix 7 watch to 2025.10 but after connecting my edge530 I get a "Synchronisation with Garmin Connect failed" error, and only the trailforks map is showing up. No 2025.10 update but also the currently installed 2024.20 map is not shown anymore.

Garmin Express is up to date 7.25.0 + , edge firmware 9.75 too.

I hope this will be solved in the comming days but nevertheless I wanted to let people know that there's an issue going on with this update. (From my perspective)

  • I managed to update a week or two ago, then got plagued with almost everytime I connected to Garmin Express, I would get a message to update again with 2025.10. Three times I reupdated.

And then today, I got another new map update with 2024.20 which was supposed to have been replaced with 2025.10. So now I have both of them on my 530

I don' know what is going on?

  • THE eu maps need about 10gig so you cannot have both on a edge 530, it has 16g total storage, partial in use by the system.

  • My Edge 530 did an update to topoactive 2025.10, seems that the update issue is indeed solved. I can also confirm that the popularity routing issue is solved.

  • Thank you for the info.
I will try to update the map data on my 530 therefore in the next days.

    * Does the rendered map look differently?
    * Detail level?
    * Are roundabouts correctly shown ahead in turn-by-turn navigation?

The last thing was an issue with the original map data, which lacked somehow the necessary info and caused always the infamous "turn right" guidance message instead of giving proper guidance like "take 3rd exit" and the appropriate small picture. This single thing is such an improvement which newer map data like 2024.20.

  • I can assure you that I have got 2025.10 and 2024.20 on my Edge 530 and the EU Topo maps do not need 10GB. I have looked at my device using JaVaWa and it informs me:

    Europe Topo East       2.8GB
                         Central   2.7GB
                         West      2.7GB

    Europe West 2024.20    2.6GB

It has not installed 2024.20 Europe East and Central

And Coverage is also complete for all the maps as I can also check that

And I have two other smaller maps installed and I still have 1.76GB free

But, today when I connect to Garmin Express, it now wants me to update again with EU Topo 2025.10 again when I already have it and updated it several times now, so why does it keeping wanting to update it?

  • Hi
On my Edge 1000, the Topoactive update also appeared today.
The problem is, it updates the map. Only one Topoactive out of the three.
I disconnect from GE, I reconnect to GE, and it tells me it's updating the map again.
I've done this update three times, and each time, I only find myself with the "east" map available.
  • I'm starting to get really sick of this Garmin Express wanting me to update my 530 to the Topo Active Europe 2025.10 map. Everytime I connect, its wants me to upgrade.

I upgraded Thursday night, went for a ride Friday morning, reconected at 12:00 to GE on my return, it wanted me to update again which I did as until I do, I cannot use GE as the notification masks out the "Synch" button"

Today, I have not done a ride because of inclement weather, just connected to GE and once again, I have to update, I have not even used it since updating the day before. This is completely wrong.

But, I see what might be wrong, when I look at the "View Details" of the map update in GE, it shows me what map is going to get updated

But, when I look at the "Map Details" just below, only "Trail Forks" is listed. no other map, there is no mention of Topo Europ 2025.10, so is it possible the map itself is not registering into the 530 correctly into GE, so therefore GE presumes it does not exist and I need to reinstall and update it everytime? Seems logical!!!!

  • I’ve upgraded yesterday night.

    * Upgrade went smooth

    * After Restart and Reconnect Garmin Express offered the upgrade once again. I reinstalled the maps as usual  (see below) again and I did not offered the upgrade a third time.

    * Boot time went down from 20 to 14 seconds

    * Garmin Express stills shows the “Your Purchases cannot be loaded” message

Maps and zoom levels look probably the same. I try do to a test ride with roundabouts, maybe today. But I will rain a lot in coming days.

PS: I learned with three devices, always reinstall the maps after an upgrade. The devices can boot slower after a map upgrade, a reinstall can fix that.

  • New maps showed up and updated fine yesterday. Boot time is good. No issues.
