Saving my runs strange on Garmin Connect

Good morning everyone, I hope I posted in the right section, I have owned a Garmin Edge 530 for 2 years and only now in the last 3 outings the Garmin saves my bike ride with 2 partials on Garmin Connect and consequently on Strava?
In truth, the 2 previous to this one saved me a total and a partial ride.
I will start by saying that I have not touched anything on the device
I am inserting an example photo
Thanks to everyone for the answers

  • My guess, since you have not touched anything on the device I suspect the memory is full. This leads to saving errors as it tries to purge old activity files to make room for new ones. So my suggestion is to free up memory space on the Edge by removing all of the old activity files. Plug your Edge 530 into a computer via the USB connection and locate the "Activities" folder in the Edge file system. Move all of these files over to your computer hard drive or where ever you would want to archive these activity files. Or just delete them if they are not important. All of these activities will remain on the Garmin Connect site and Strava, you are simply removing the files that live on the Edge. If you are using an Apple computer, I believe there is a final step like Empty Trash or something that needs to happen to complete the deletion.

  • Ok, thank you very much, I will try to do as you said. But the connection to the PC shows me this space: 7.13 GB available on 14.3 GB Otherwise I will do a total reset of the device

  • The "total memory available" is misleading.  The 530 can't access the total memory for activities.  Definitely start with suggestion.  Also remember you are limited to 100 courses (routes) saved, so it's a good time to go into that folder whilst plugged into a computer and delete any you don't need saved to the device.  As he said, these don't delete them from GC or Strava, just the device, so in my mind no reason to save them elsewhere.

  • Good evening, I found out what causes those segment saves and it is due to the Garmin Speed Sensor. (see photo)

It all started when I replaced the battery, I tried to unpair it and then re-pair it to the Garmin Edge 530 but this problem always occurs at every exit. Any advice to remove this problem?

    Thanks

  • I noticed that the Garmin speed Sensor makes these saves when I stop for more than 5 minutes, like when I stop at the bar to get a coffee. I also saw that it is also connected to the Garmin Connect app on the smartphone, I try to dissociate it from the smartphone and leave it connected only to the Gamin Edge 530 and let's see if on the next bike ride it continues with these strange saves.

    What do you think?

    Thanks

  • onestly, since I bought the Garmin Edge 530, I set it up according to my needs and everything has always gone well, even when I later installed the Speed Sensor. It's since I changed the battery, because it was flat, to the Speed sensor that these strange saves occur

mod note: you were replying to a spammer, who's post has been removed.

  • I think you may be on to something here with the speed sensor connected to both the Edge and to your GC phone app. I believe the speed sensor can also log activities based on measured rotations (no GPS position data) and that it may have been trying to add its own logs to your GC profile. I think it was a good step to disassociate it from the GC app. Has it fixed your issue?

  • What  said is your issue.  You do NOT want the speed sensor connected directly to your phone!  That is for people without a head unit, and it will save each movement of the bike as a ride!  ONLY connect the speed sensor to your 530 and everything will be back to normal.

  • I'll try tomorrow or next time I go out

  • Hello everyone, I disconnected the Garmin Speed Sensor from my smartphone and went on 2 bike rides, now everything is ok, no strange partial saves.
Thanks to everyone for your interest and advice
