Garmin segments don't show on ride

Hi,

I imported some segments from Garmin Connect (not Strava), they are active, all Segments related options are activated.

But when i start a ride, i only have a datascreen that show me in how much time the segment will start and in how much time i will reach the end of the course. But i don't have the segments data screen where i have the remaining distance, time to beat etc.

That's weird because the segments seems to work but i haven't the detailed segments screen.

Does anyone have an idea?

    I have just gave "Segments" a try, and I cannot fathom them out either, they seem to have a mind of their own.

    I created 3 "segments" based on the ride I had done the day before and followed all the garmin instructions on how to do it, the next day I rode the same course, nothing showed on the 530, but when I had finished and looked at the results of the ride, under "Segments, I did have information of how I had done for all three but also never saw the detailed segments screen

    Next day, I had made another 3 segments to try, but when I looked on the 530 to enable them, only the 3 from the previous day was showing. But this time when I rode, I got a warning that I was close to the first one, but nothing happened. and then when I got to the second, it worked as it should including the detailed segments screen, but saw no signs of the other 4. When I finished and pressed stop, it showed my results for a 4.7 mile segment which was puzzling, the longest one was only 1.7 miles and non of them was close to each other. So somewhere on the 530, they are getting stored but not appearing under Segments!!!!

    But, when I was riding the one that worked, it was 3 miles long and at 18 mph, it said it would take 1 minute 20 seconds, then it jumped to 40 minutes plus, then dropped to 19 minutes and constantly changed times 

    Today, I had deleted 3 segments and uploaded one more segment, that also does not show on the 530, but it did work and started and finished exactly where they should, but when I finished, it was showing half a mile longer than it should, but uploaded to Garmin connect, its been corrected.

    And then trying to create a segment of exactly 3 miles with Garmin connect, its a joke, positioning the start and finish will only go where the program will alow them to, Closest I could get was 3.02 miles???

    I suppose though, you have to take into account, it is a Garmin Edge and they are just bugged to start with.

    I have never used Garmin Connect segments. But Strava segments work as intended with my Edge 530.

    So i tested Strava Live Segments, and they work when following a route (in specific conditions), you need to create the route in Strava for them to work. But Strava smooths the elevation data, so ClimbPro will be way less accurate when you want to use Strava Segments. I never figured out how to make Garmin Segments work when following a route, i don't think its possible anymore.

    You don't need to be on a route, Strava live segments also work on free rides.

    The problem was when following a route like i said, Garmin Segments and Strava Segments works on free rides. When following a route, you cannot make Garmin Segments work, but you can use Strava Segments under certain conditions.

    I am finding that  Garmin Segments do work now when following a route, I get the data screen that informs me I am approaching the segment and then its the same datascreen with time and distance remaining etc.

    Have you enabled the segments that you want to ride and also enabled in the activity profile the segments datafield?
    And also have you created the segment using an activity and uploaded them to the 530?
