Edge 520 Not calculating distance

Garmin Edge device which I am using for mapped and unmapped rides outdoors. Unmapped rides show speed but not the distance. What are my options to understand the fix the issue such that accurate distance is recorded?

I assume that you are starting the timer and that GPS is enabled in the profile you are using.

Both are correct. I am starting the ride (I assume that is what you mean by starting the timer when it shows a green "Play" sign like you may seen on old cassette players). And yes, the GPS is enabled in the profile.

Actually, to be more precise, GPS+GLONASS is selected.
