How do I enable Altitude Acclimation?

I finally got the Heat Acclimatization working, and now I'm trying to get the Altitude Acclimatization (AA) to work.

After a ride today I got no AA note when saving the ride, and I see no AA data for the ride in the Training Status Report on my Garmin Connect webpage.

I have the Connect app running on my iPhone during the entire ride, and the phone is connected to the 530 during the ride.

My rides usually start at 2500ft, and go up to about 4k ft, so I'm expecting some AA.

Do I need to add some Widget to my 530 to get this to work? or?

thanks!

  • Sorry but its a complete mystery to me. I don't even know if it is supported on a 530, I used one for a few years and never saw anything to do with AA. On my 1040 it is (was) a complete joke, for a long while I got AA updates (up or down) for EVERY ride I did, regardless of only going up to 80m and even more odd is that I got them for indoor rides too! after many bug reports that finally stopped at least.

    The Garmin support site says,

"Altitude adaptation will decay within 21-28 days. The minimum acclimation value is 800 m (2625 ft.) and the maximum acclimation value is 4000 m (13123 ft.). Your watch or cycling computer will display Inactive or Altitude Acclimation is currently inactive if you are outside of the altitude requirements."

Your starts are just below the 800m so that might somehow stop it from starting?

I am more a sea level rider, don't like hills

PS the support page says the 530 is supported for AA

  • For this to work the unit must be put in sleep mode when not in use rather than powering it off. The unit checks your altitude at around midnight so needs to be in standby mode.

  • Hum...I always keep my 530 in standby mode when I'm not using it. It appears to always be connected to wifi during this time. There must be some other factor preventing AA...
