I set my virtual partner at 16 miles per hr before setting off on my ride. At the end of my ride I beat the VP, but my avg mph is only 14! why? how?

I don't understand why my avg mph is slower than the VP mph, when I beat the VP by at least 2 minutes. Shouldn't my avg mph be higher than 16mph if I beat VP by more than 2 minutes by the end of a 30 mile ride. Can anyone explain this please?

Today I went out for a ride on a course, and take some screenshots to compare my 530 to my 800 to show how innacurate the 530 is compared to the 800. Sadly it did not go to plan, as trying to work two "Edges" that work differently, watch the road and not crash, and ride with a fresh wind etc, is a bit dangerous. Shortly after starting, I overpressed the screenshot button on the 800 and turned it off which put everything out of synch when restarting, but, I did get some good info and refreshed my memory, that the 530 VP is useless on courses and I do not use it apart from on the map page and elevation profile as I have stated. Sadly I cannot import any pictures into this thread or even the new thread I had started. Garmin forums are as useless as their products, so I have started a new thread under the Title "VP Screenshots 2"
