New to bike computers and confused

So I'm looking at a Giant Stormguard that features the Giant RideControl Ergo 2 controller and the RideDash EVO display unit.  I also want to use my Garmin Varia radar on the bike, but I don't want my handlebars to look like they're something out of an A10 cockpit.  Id'd like to get everything on one display with a unified way (the Ergo 2) to navigate between functions on the display.

My LBS is absolutely no help in this area...they barely know what the RideControl/RideDash does.  What I'm wondering is if it would be (easily) possible to totally ditch the RideDash display in favor of say an Edge 530?  It seems like this would consolidate all the features (Nav, Radar, bike info, etc.) onto one screen while using the buttons on the Ergo 2 to move around between functions.

Am I looking at this the right way? Because if not, it seems like that I'd be stuck with two displays with a lot of overlap in features.

  • I think so? As far as navigation and radar, yes the Edge unit will do both of those. The Varia is a Garmin product and fully integrated with Edge devices. The Giant e-bike display and data is not related at all to Garmin.  But the Edge products have a huge library of user-built apps called the Connect IQ Store and there are some that claim to do what you are looking for. I have no experience with apps that may work, but it looks like they exist.
