Different mileage

My wife and I both use Edge 530's and wheel sensors on our MTB's. Every 2 miles she is showing 1/2 mile more than me, our evaluation and time is the same! So the difference in mileage just doesn't make sense?

We ride together at the time.

Please advise on how to fix my 530 to match hers. We know hers is correct, she always shows the same distance that Trailforks says the trail or loop is.

Is one or both of you using a speed sensor? That will take priority over the GPS data to allow the Edge to compute distance.

Are you riding the same size wheels and are both units to to use the same wheel size?

Yes .... Same everything! it worked fine for a year, then all of a sudden the last 5 or 6 rides have been different. We've tried everything

Is the sensor mounted on the rear or front wheel of the bike that is registering more distance?

So basically, if you both go for a 20 mile ride, "Hers" will show 20 miles and yours will show 25 Miles, that is a big error.

Too eliminate the bikes or sensors causing the issue, swap sensors and edges over, if your bike now shows the correct distance, you will know it's a sensor or Edge issue, if your wife still shows the correct distance, the issue is your bike. You may find that to trace the issue, start by just swapping sensors over or just the edge and see what happens. If nothing, swap the other item over before swapping both.

aweatherall asked you this, and you answered affirmatively, but I think it's worth double checking, so I'll ask in more detail: Have you rolled out the wheels next to a tape measurer and manually entered the wheel circumference for each sensor into the Edge? I'm strongly against using the "automatic" wheel size sensing. Measuring and entering the wheel rollout removes huge potential for error and ensures maximum accuracy. In particular, MTB has lots of twists and turns, so automatic wheel circumference sensing does not work well.

If you've not done this, I would do this before doing the swapping between bikes suggestion.
