Garmin Edge 530 Display Flickering Issue

Hello Garmin community,

I've been experiencing a recurring issue with my Garmin Edge 530 where the display flickers, turning off for about 1 second and then turning back on every 5-6 seconds. This continues until I power off the Garmin and turn it on again. The problem tends to reoccur after 1-2 hours of use.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with their Garmin Edge 530? If so, how did you resolve it? I'm seeking advice on how to troubleshoot and fix this flickering display issue. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

  • Yeah got exactly this problem. Garmin fell off the bike as I was parked up, saving the ride. Fell to the ground while in a rubber case and started glitching. Pretty innocuous fall really. Assume there is a loose connection inside so going to have to take a look.

  • Exact same here. Edge 530 dropped and after that the frequent flickering started. I have opened the device, and I'm sure the first two connectors weren't the problem, I loosened them and fixed them again, to no result. The flickering remained.

Did any of you find a resolution in the meantime?

  • I did get it fixed in the end but more through perseverance and retrying all the connectors. I think it was the battery connector into the main board in the end.  Keep at it.

I bought a replacement rubber seal on AliExpress as well. Sealed it up really neatly.

  • Awesome, thanks for your swift reply.

I have run through all the connectors now, including the battery indeed. And I’m not sure which one did the trick in the end, but hey… it works!!

I’m receiving T7000 glue tomorrow, which seals it nicely down (is my experience with other devices) and stays a bit flexible. So then I can put it all back together.

  • Amazing, thank you for the answers! I will try to do the same as you and hope it helps. It has stopped flickering as often, so if it starts again, I just reset the device and it's good. I will definitely try your fix and cross my fingers that it works! Thank you all once again.
