Dead 530 with occasionally boot loops

Hi there!

Today, my edge 530 crashed mid ride. It turned off and then started to boot loop for a while. It turned on but quickly (about 5s later) after it would crash again.

During the restart, it always shown 100% battery status, which is not true (it was about 70% before crashing).

Nothing I could found on the forum worked.

Tried many different resets, tried to connect it to a MAC to check files via mass storage mode but it's dead silent now.. I cant even get to mass storage mode.

Nothing happens with charger connected too.. no logo, nothing.

It's not boot looping anymore.

FW 9.75.

Two days ago it was working just fine.

Thats frustrating.

Any suggestion is very much appreciated.

Thanks

  • have same issue, mine will boot loop randomly every couple of hours. Was perfectly functional yesterday

  • Not sure if it's the same problem. Mine kept bootlooping indefinitely for about 3 hours. Then, nothing. All black. Neither my Mac and PC were capable to find it as an external drive, tried every kind of reset and buttons combinations and again, no luck at all.

I opened it up (it's well out of warranty) and carefully removed the display.  Nothing seemed to be wrong. I checked the voltage of the battery and it was ok ( ~3.2V).

Tried to recharge the battery at 100mAh (with a lithium-ion specific charger). After two hours of charging, it came back to life again.

It has been working well since this procedure. I've done a few long rides with it, and it seems to be fine.
