My 530 has a lap counter that is set to 5 miles. Is there a way to turn this feature off or lengthen the lap to 99 miles or somthing like that?

Thanksl

    Auto Lap: -

And from there you can alter the settings to what you want or disable it.

I like to have mine set at "Lap by Position" then when I am on a long distance event, I can press the lap button on the device when I get to a certain position on a route card and by having a data field set up for "lap distance", it will reset to zero and then I can keep an eye on it for how far away I am from the next instruction.

Also, if free running I can hit the lap button at the foot of a hill for example and once again at the top then I will have a recorded lap to see how long it took me to climb it. Plus if I do hill repeats, it will remember those two positions and I don't have to repress the lap button again and will just keep recording laps for me. It works great in this manner for example when riding circuits in a loop, first loop, record the start and various points and after that, no need to do it again as it will auto Lap everytime you cross over one of those positions. Ideal when racing or training.

I will also do a double press of the lap button with a very short time gap if I want to locate a place of interest that I have ridden past then when I want to find it afterwards, I can look for that spot on the downloaded ride into my training program. For example, It may even be a large pot hole in a road that needs reporting to the council .

Using the lap button, especially on the Garmin remote is a useful thing to use on rides.
