Garmin Edge 530 Super slow to sync on my Iphone 14

Hello everybody,

I own a garmin edge 530, everything works well apart from the syncing with connect app.

It takes at least 20 minutes to sync and with no wifi connection it can take really a lot a lot of time, but in all cases with no control over what’s the progress, meaning that on the connect app I see the device, when I manually press the sync button nothing happen, you have to wait a random time for it to start syncing and checking the white progress circle around the device icon.

Before you ask recording is set to smart and not to 1 second. My friend’s 530 syncs in few minutes so I really don’t understand the problem.

Also when sending a route or a training you don’t have control over the status of sending it, it just sync randomly over time.

Looks like the Edge and the Iphone are not really talking each other directly through bluetooth but instead going through internet or something like that.

Somebody facing the same issue?

Are you using a powermeter as i find my sync times are very long if I'm using the bike that has a powermeter fitted

Just got it, but the problem was there also before I bought it I don’t see any difference so I don’t think that’s the problem

Ahh I see. One thing to note is that even though you've set your edge to smart recording if you are using a powermeter the edge automatically switches to 1s recording whenever you are using it as regular recording intervals are needed to so the edge can correctly calculate the power metrics

But the thing is that the sync doesn’t start at all for a lot of time even when pressing the sync button, the arrows spins for few seconds and stops. And this with the edge correctly connected to the phone. Looks like it doesn’t find anything new to sync

There's a couple of things I'll try with my edge. If it works I'll report back with what I've done

I tried something too, I deactivated the wifi connection. When I will register a new ride i will see if it fixed or not and let you know!

I've had WiFi disabled for a while on my edge & it didn't have any effect on the slow sync so will be interesting to hear if you see any improvement

But as I said the problem is that for me syncing doesn’t start at all it take a lot of time to start maybe because it conflicts and doesn’t know if syncing on wifi or bluetooth that’s why now i disabled it just tryin

I have the exact same problem with my Garmin 530 and iPhone 14.

I find i can kickstart the sync by turning bluetooth offf then back on my iPhone. I lleave wi-fi off on the Garmin after I read it can cause problems with sync when they are both on.

Having trouble sharing routes with friends with Garmin 530s as well. Must be related.

I wish Garmin would get their act together and fix this or I may have to switch to Wahoo.

Exact same issue here: iPhone 14 and Garmin Edge 530. Syncing via bluetooth takes ages (10-20 minutes), and quite often it doesn't start at all. I have to click the sync button 20 times but nothing happens. I do use a power meter since a couple of months and I think that the problems started around that time. Curious to see if you find any solutions.
