Loader loading screen after update

Hi Folks, new Garmin user here so trying to get my head around things. Just updated to the 9.73 software, disconnected form the PC and hit install on the device. It seems to get to 100% and then restarts, where it has been stuck on the black garmin screen for about 30 minutes, saying "loader loading". Is this normal after an update and I am being impatient, or is there something else I should do.

  • Try a very long press of the power button until it reboots.  Beyond that there is a hard reset option with some specific button pushes, but I don't remember that procedure.

  • Our suggestion would be the same as what Cranky suggested. Try holding down the power button for up to 30 seconds which will power the device off. You should then be able to power your 530 back on like normal. I would encourage you to go into the System menu and confirm that 9.73 is installed after performing those steps.

  • Hi. I've tried that, quite a few times, and also done a factory reset. Same problem occurs. I've now opted to select "remind me later" when it asks to update. Not a permanent solution though

  • “Remind me later” indicates the update hasn’t installed and there will be a file in the \Garmin folder on your device named gupdate.gcd. It may be corrupted, so delete it. (Empty the trash too if you are using a Mac). Then connect to Garmin express to try again.

The file will disappear when the update is correctly installed.
