Intensity minutes not showing

Hello, please help me with a small problem. For bike rides I use an Edge 530 together with speed sensor, cadence sensor and hrm-tri. I take my Fenix 6x pro with me for music. The problem is that the intense minutes are not always calculated. The pulse is recorded without interruptions, the software versions are the same from one ride to another, everything is always the same, but with all that those minutes don't always appear. I can't figure out why this is happening. Thank you

  • Only the Edge 1040 and Edge Explore 2 currently support Intensity Minutes natively (How Are Intensity Minutes Earned?).

However, if you are using the HRM-Pro or Pro Plus, you can get credit after your ride if you sync with Garmin Connect Mobile. Outside of these two instances, you would need to wear your Fenix 6x Pro to get credit during your ride.

  • Based off this article we suggest recording the activity on the watch that is capable of intensity minutes. Or you can pair your watch to the Edge as a heartrate sensor and that would also work as long as the criteria is meet.

How Are Intensity Minutes Earned? Link

Can I Earn Intensity Minutes From Other Activity Types?

You can earn intensity minutes by completing a number of different exercises in order to meet your weekly goal. However, when doing anything outside of brisk walking or running such as: cycling, weightlifting, or various calisthenics, recording using the activity tracking feature on the watch is recommend to ensure the heart rate is being monitored consistently and allowing you to upload your workout and view your results in Garmin Connect.

Watches supporting swimming optical heart rate can give credit for intensity minutes when using the Pool Swim profile or Open Water Swim profile. All other watches will not give intensity minutes for swimming without wearing an HRM-Pro or HRM-Pro Plus and having it paired to the Garmin Connect app on your phone.

  • ok, thank you for your answer. however, I don't understand why sometimes it calculate them and sometimes not, despite the fact that nothing changes from one ride to another. and this problem is relatively recent, until now I have not had such problems with Edge.

  • Same situation here.

This morning for example, I wore my FR255 (SW 14.17) and record the ride with my Edge 530 (SW 9.73). I push myself hard, arrive to work sweating and set a personal best :-) Garmin connect however, shows zero intensity minutes :-(

This is a recent regression as it always worked in the past. I have no idea why now it only sometimes works.

  • Same with my Edge 530 - used to reliably record intensity minutes in Connect until recently. Garmin: do you have a solution?

  • Hi, I am in the same situation. Using Edge 530 for cycling and Venu 2 plus for everything else. Only in the last few days am I not being credited with intensity minutes from the Edge 530. Something looks like it has changed!
