9.73 reboots

I have had quite a number of reboots on the latests FW (9.73). Some of them not too bad, where it reboots and comes up in an almost "ride paused" state and I can resume. However, yesterday it rebooted in such a way that the entire ride up to that point was lost and I could only record the last 20k's post-reboot.

A couple of days ago I had 2 reboots in the first 30 min of the ride. Fortunately nothing on my long ride Monday - otherwise I may have tossed this thing down the mountainside! ;)

None of the rides were with navigation - I just rode and recorded.

Is there a way to revert to the last (previous) stable version?

Thanks! I will give the reset a bash first - it is a bit less intrusive! And maybe double record (and ditch one if all goes well) on the F7 for a while.

9.73 is stable on my 530 (Caveat: I perform a reset after every activity, following uploading it to Garmin Connect - hold the top-left button until the device restarts)

The 9.71 beta download includes firmware version 9.50.

FW 9.73 has been just fine for me as well. Maybe try clearing out all your old activities? I don't really know if that makes a difference, but I thought I remember advice from long ago that occasionally an activity file will be corrupt which causes the device to behave badly.

Isn't holding down the power button for long enough just a full shut down? Same as a brief hold of the same button and selecting power off.

Keep the button depressed until the unit turns on again.

Yes, it seems to behave just like a normal shut down.

Single click of power button = enter sleep mode or wake from sleep mode

Brief hold of power button = menu option comes up for Sleep, Set Bike Alarm, and Power Off

Longer hold of power button = Get Assistance mode, where if I release the power button at this point it will send a notification to my emergency contacts

Even longer hold of power button = Power Off, seems the same as brief hold and selecting power off

Press power again after the long press shut down = seemingly normal boot up.

Resetting (holding the power button until the unit powers off and on) after uploading then deleting activities has been 100% successful for my 530.

Similar problems with 9.73. I downgraded to 9.50 and same thing happened again today.

By chance are you following a course that you created on the device from a previous ride history? I had several crashes occur on my 830 during a ride recently while following a course created directly on the device. I stopped the course and the ride finished without another issue.
