Edge 530 software bugs

Hi guys!,

I recently bought an EDGE 530 on offer. I wanted to ask the owners if they tolerate the wrong temperature measurement (+ 2 ° C) as well as the sudden temperature variation (+/- 1 ° C) every minute.

Also if they have a hard time pressing the slippery and hard side keys and prefer this low display brightness. I don't want to talk about my old 520 plus that as soon as the USB power is removed it automatically turns off after 10 seconds and doesn't stay on like the Edge 530.

I don't even want to talk about the GPS (GPS + Glonass) that it receives even in the woods.

To conclude, are we sure that the Edge 530 is the exact evolution of the Edge 520?

  • How are these even "software bugs"?

The Edge temperature value is known to be affected by sun loading and airflow (movement). If you stop on a sunny day, it will increase. It seems to be the unit's internal temperature, not the ambient air temperature.

You can change the brightness. Turn off auto-brightness and set it manually if you want.

Since there are a lot of things you don't want to talk about lol but seem to be having problems with as a new owner, maybe reach out to Garmin Support directly for assistance, they are usually pretty helpful.

    Cheers

  • The temperature measurement is obviously not essential, but it is shocking to see a fluctuation of 1 ° C over 30 seconds while standing still in the shade. Furthermore, having a deviation of + 2 ° C compared to reality is not admissible for a medium-level GPS such as the Edge 530.

Another questionable thing is the low backlight, so I disabled it completely by enabling the night mode and with thanks and kisses from the battery.

Ready-to-use GPS does not mean increased sensitivity to receiving satellites, it invites you to start the training session even when the number of satellites received are insufficient with inevitable location and measurement errors.

However I don't understand why I should take my 530 to Garmin service to have what checked? .... these are software flaws found on all 530s and are so common that buyers don't even notice.

We look forward to another firmware release.

    Cheers.
