Best setup for 530

Just got the 530 and was wondering what options would be best to avoid or enable. I have been doing rides with my fr955+hrm pro+cadence sensor and old oregeon300 for maps till now but wanted to be able to see where I am and was wondering if it was worth setting all sensors to the 530 or just use it as a map.

  • I don't think this is an answerable question since there are probably 100 options on the device. Probably best if you asked about specific ones that interest you.

I wouldn't say there is anything on it to "avoid" using, unless there is known major bug on a particular feature, but there have been so many firmware updates by now (currently v9.50) that those shouldn't be common by now. Definitely update the firmware if you haven't already.

Personally I rarely use it for nav because I'm always in a known area. I use it as a cycling data logger for the rides, heartrate, power, performance metrics, etc.

  • The “best setup” is the one that works best for you and the only way to find out is to experiment. I’d suggest creating a short test route and riding it with various different settings.

However, I would recommend turning off route recalculation when following a course due to its unpredictable results.

  • Thanks will bare that in mind. Will give it ago this weekend.
