Please fix Weather Widget wind speed on Status Page!

It's been mentioned before, but this is still broken.  Wind speed perpetually stuck at "0".  Everything else works fine; Weather Condition, Temp, Precip, and Wind Direction all faithfully report current conditions.  But the speed is ALWAYS stuck at zero on the status screen.  If you select the weather bar and open it, the correct wind speed is shown there, but it is never transferred to the status page.  This has to be an easy fix!  Example below.  Wind is correctly shown as out of the North, but at a speed of "0" (zero).  Please fix before you abandon the 530!

  • Never noticed this before, but yes this is how it is on my 530 too.

  •  thanks for the tip on the "Rain & Wind" data field.  I downloaded and had it set up in just a few minutes, works well as its own data page.  That said, my first ride with it that day had me and my buddy hiding in a railroad tunnel while lighting crashed around us while this showed a 7% chance of rain!  Too funny, I know it's not the fault of the data field, it was faithfully reporting what the garbage Apple weather had available.  Still a worthy data field, more so for my gravel rides where it will be nice to know relative wind position.  I'm mostly mtb, but relative wind will be nice for the occasional ride.  Thx!

Now, Garmin-People, how about still fixing the wind speed on the status page?

  • Haha!  I hope you avoided getting soaked at least.  I like that it is a data field that is more easily accessible than going into the widgets screen.

  • Yes, I should have mentioned the advantage of it being a data page, much easier to see.  Since I mtb most of the time, I like being able to scroll through pages with just the remote, I rarely touch the Edge itself throughout the ride.  And, no, did not avoid getting soaked, but it was stupid hot so it felt good.  We were only hiding until the lightning passed.  I don't mind getting drenched when it's hot, but getting fried is another thing!

  • Another alternative, I found this one yesterday.  Does the same as the data field I mentioned before but has some color.

  • Cool, that looks promising.  I like the additional info (weather station being used) and the different color for head vs tailwind is a nice touch.  Let us know how it works if you get around to it.  I see one review complaining of a small font, so that is a concern.  Thanks for the heads up.  I find CIQ a bit clunky to look for stuff, so I don't often search for new data fields/apps/widgets.

  • Agreed, neat to see which weather station the data came from.  I don't know why it impresses me, but it is satisfying to see the indicator arrow agreeing with actual wind conditions.  The text about weather station source at the bottom is small, but in my opinion that isn't critical info at a glance.  I use this field in a 3 data field screen where the fields take up roughly 2/5, 2/5, 1/5 of the screen and this field takes up a 2/5 larger one.  My only complaint is maybe the layout isn't optimized for the size of a 530 screen and the far right side of the text is kind of chopped off.  It cuts off the percent symbol for the RH data.

  • Hey, , you found a winner with this "Live Weather" data field, I like it.  It's simple, but effective.  It's not a screen you'll be staring at constantly, especially while mountain biking, but I did leave it on screen for a long time while doing a gravel rail trail ride yesterday.  It works well, it's a keeper.  I like that it shows the actual wind velocity, it doesn't try to adjust it relative to your speed like the "Rain & Wind" data field.  Live Weather also seamlessly changed to another weather station as I ventured along, updating about every 20 minutes which is plenty.
