Just noticed on my Garmin Connect that the option to enroll on the beta program for the 530 is available.
Let's hope for a alpha/beta firmware that fixes the sensor dropouts...

Garmin do not respond to anything reported in the forum's, and if they do, it does not get fixed or they just "break" something else if they try and fix it.
For instance, I have a couple of threads running about how an Edge is incapable of doing a basic simple time and distance calculation yet 3rd party apps can do it and there has been no response and I see the same in other threads reporting bugs. Basically the only time you will see anyone from Garmin getting involved with something is if it's a know issue and there is a workable solution which they are happy to resolve as if they are someone special. But something they do not have a solution for, they avoid getting involved. Garmin takes it users of Edge products as mugs and I will never buy another one.
I vowed after buying an 800 never to buy another one because it was that buggy and it was replaced by another edge before the bugs on the 800 was resolved and after many years, I relented and presumed they may have improved but I was shocked to find that when I bought a 530, they are still useless. I pity those who bought 1040's at that high price because all they are are just "beta testers" as going by the forum, they are also useless and I bet that in at least 4 years time and more, they will still be bugged and not fully functional same as the 800 and the 530, 830, 1030 etc and everything in-between have been. Have Garmin ever brought out any Edge that works or even had all its issues resolved.
So basically, as I do hundreds of miles a month training for and long distance endurance events, I would love to beta test products etc but for Garmin, I would not waste my time enrolling as a beta tester. Their Edge products are just not 100% fit for purpose and always have issues which most could probably have been resolved before putting them on the market.. I bet the aviation industry and maritime industry would not stand for such bugged products, planes would be crashing and getting lost all over the World and ships getting lost and running aground, so why does the cycling fraternity have to put up with it.
I could just imagine a plane constantly being rerouted back to the start or its ETA being hours out etc like what users of Edges have to put up with.
A lot of users commenting about the xx30 alpha / beta here and the other xx30 forums over the last few days but not one issue report in the combined alpha forum
https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/edge-530-830-1030-series/alpha/
either the alpha is perfect and solves all known issues or no-one can be bothered to install the alpha and test , I have to admit I am one of those especially as it does not seem to address any of the current major problems, both long standing & recently introduced, like the sensor dropouts / disconnects
