Edge 530 automatic firmware update by Connect app

Is it possible tu turn off automatic firmware update by Connect App on the smartphone? I found this https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=ZKn5UHHyEF9J3MPROKwRj8

I have Edge 530manual but there is no info about such a possibility . I would like to have this because of the problems with device rebooting after installing the latest firmware version.

  • Did you try using the "search" function before you wrote this post? Probably not. The topic has been raised many times and the solution has been given many times. A little invention

  • OK, I used search function but did not find the answer. So I will search once again....

  • Put empty file "GUPDATE.GCD" in the main folder of Edge.

  • There is not an option to disable automatic updates.

  • Yes, this method helps. But yesterday i connected my Edge to PC with Garmin Express active. And I forgot to verify Garmin folder when disconnecting Edge. And when Edge turned on it asked me If I want to install the latest firmware 9.50 Slight smile Of course I refused. I connected Edge to PC again and found in Garmin folder GUPDATE.GCD of about 20 MB. So Garmin Express has overwritten my empty file Slight smile Now I overwrote 9.50 file with my empty GUPDATE.GCD. And I still have the verified older firmware version which do not make my Edge restarting Slight smile And I have a question. Is it possible to make a software on PC (Windows 10), which  protects the empty GUPDATE.GCD from overwritting? Or after shutting down Garmin Express automatically overwrites its 9.50 file?
