530 reboots during activity randomly

Having 530 updated to 9.50, attached 4iiii powermeter, hrm-pro chest strap, also I use BeerCount ConnectIQ field.

during a normal ride my garmin sometimes turn black and reboots.

I don't see any relations with the outside temperature (happened when outside was +30C or +12C too), length of the ride, or use of Navigation / Workout displays, it just started to reboot from time to time (I believe first time I saw it on 9.40 when I was riding 6h+)

I also tried to wipe - reset the device, didn't help.

  • I've noticed this too. Simple configuration with Wahoo HR and cadence sensors. Also, linked to an iPhone SE 2nd Gen.

  • YES, 9.5 reboots during a ride. Planned death of 530 - seen it with previous models?

  • For those interested in troubleshooting or Garmin engineers. Based on my ride data, it looks like the ant+ radio crashed approximately a minute before the reboot. No HR or cadence data a minute before reboot.

  • I have the same problem with rebooting. My Edge 530 was purchased in June. I found the 9.10 version here in your link, but I called Garmin and was inforrmed that I cannot upload older versions of the firmware. As I use Garmin Connect app on my smartphone it appeared that Garmin knows all about my Edge activity. So what about the warranty? I guess that you used a third party software to upload 9.10 version to your Edge?

  • I installed the firmware update file manually, except I followed the directions included with the 9.10 firmware - it's not to be placed in the NewFiles folder.

  • Thanks. Did you inform Garmin company about the bug? Their engineers should asap prepare a new, good firmware

  • OK, i have made the downgrade. Edge asked me if I wanted install older firmware version :)  I have made backup copy before and after turning the device on with 9.10 version I had to prepare my screens once again. But there is a new issue. I cannot pair Connect app on my phone (Samsung Galaxy) with the device. The app has been just updated. My phone sees Edge 530 by Bluetooth, the pairing was made with the 6-digit PIN, bout the Connect app not. The phone sees Edge530 in 2 modes BT and BTLE. The connection between Edge and phone is made in BT mode. I have tried many solutions: reinstalled Connect app, turned the phone and Edge on and off. And it is still the same. The app displays "Edge 530 is ready to connect", there is a running man gif and this screen has been on and on for 15 minutes And Edge displays" Waiting for the phone"...

  • For this issue I would recommend to install the older version of Garmin connect app that you can find on apkmirror, that sorted this issue for me.
