What do I need to do to with my files if I am selling my Edge 520?

I have upgraded my Edge 520 to a 530 and I am noticing people asking about transferring data from device to the other.
Do I need to do this? Wouldn’t all the data be stored on my laptop? Or do I need to copy it onto my laptop?

I ask as I intend to sell my 520.

  • I'm not expert and maybe I'm missing something here but... as long as all your rides have been uploaded to your account all you would have to do is do a factory reset on the unit, remove that device from the Garmin Express App and then...

    1. Sign in to Garmin Connect from a personal computer.
    2. Select Devices & Sync Status. (top right).
    3. Locate the device you want to remove and select Device Settings.
    4. Select the Gear icon. (top right).
    5. Select Remove.
    6. Confirm by selecting Remove.

  • Hi ! All your rides that you have uploaded to your Connect account will remain in your account if you upgrade devices. Furthermore, if you still have the 520, you can backup your settings and transfer them to the new device using the steps linked HERE
