Garmin Edge 530 - Without Smartphone?

Hey There

I have recently bought an Edge 530 but, discovered my smartphone is not compatible with the Garmin connect application.

So my question is - Will it still be possible to use the Edge 530 without a phone connected for recording rides, navigation and attaching a HRM etc, or do I need to reconsider my purchase?

The 530 will perform fine without a phone connection. It will not be able to do live tracking or notify of incoming calls.

It is rare that the Gamin connect mobile is not compatible with a cell phone. What brand of cell phone is it?

Hey cheracogoff, thanks for replying!

I have a Samsung mobile which I assumed would work but, the OS is 6.0.1 and the Garmin needs a more recent version.

No Garmin cycle computer requires being connected to a phone. The only functions that required a paired phone are live tracking and call/text notifications. Nothing else requires any sort of external connection.

No, you don’t need a phone at all.

Having a computer to plug it into once in a while is helpful.

Of course. I am using edge 530 without phone. I sync it via wifi (@home or from phone hotspot). From diffirent reasons but i do :)
