Create Location in Garmin Connect?

Is this possible?  I've read all the other articles and they point me towards Basecamp. Why can't I pick a point on a map in Garmin Connect and label it as a "Location" and then send that location to my Edge 530?

I don't understand why I can create courses, workouts etc in Connect but I can't do something as simple as mark a location and send it to my 530?

  • It is why I use Garmin Mapsource, far easier and simple to use than Basecamp which is absolute total garbage and probably the worst route planner anywhere and has never been improved on since it replaced Mapsource.

I create locations in Mapsource and send them to my Edge either as part of the route or just on there own.

Usually, I send them as locations, and when I send them as well as part of a route, they then become course points so you then have the benefit of having both on the Edge.

Connect will only create course points, and the program itself though is also garbage and frustrating to use at times.

  • I wouldn't say it was "garbage".  I actually use it a lot and find it helpful.  My point is there is just so much room for it to grow and they (Garmin) don't seem to be interested.  Maybe because it's free?  For one thing, I could do without all the "badges" you earn.

Anyway, having a PC/Mac based GUI that would allow us to change the settings on our head units would be such a welcome addition.  I enjoy using my 530 but having to scroll through screen after screen to locate a particular setting is just unbearable.  There are actually features that the 530 has that I am just learning about because learning about them and using them just isn't that intuitive.  Finding them on the head unit can be a challenge.

  •  Locations cannot be saved on Garmin Connect and then sent to our devices. At this time, this can only be done on the device itself.

I'd recommend you use the link HERE to submit this idea so our app team can look into this for you.
