can't pair my older garmin hrm with new Edge 530

I have a hrm that I have had for...years..not sure when...my 510 just stopped taking a charge...I have had it for over 10 years I think...hrm worked fine with it...it should work with the 530, should it not?...I have tried adding the sensor....but it won't pick it up at all...same with my wahoo cadence sensor, which is fairly new...it can't find it either...any suggestions?

Any ANT+ or BT HR monitor should work with your 530. The sensors need to be active to be picked up. You need to be wearing the HR strap so it is awake and broadcasting your HR.
