Edge 530 - Data screen creation, association gets lost for Activity Profile

There seems to be no way to "associate" or "find" a created Data Screen. I go through the process of creating a new data screen, a message at the top says "data screen saved". But there is no way to now "find" that new data screen. There is no way to list created Data Screens. There is no way to "name" data screens.

If I go to the selection for what my screen looks like (number of fields and layout) and I select it, the Data Screen I just created is NEVER there. The screen TYPE (7-A,B) layout is correct, but the data fields comprising that screen are default fields, not the ones I selected for it.

Attempting this a dozen times, there were times when my created Data Screen *was* present and associated with the Activity Profile. But when I go all the way back out to MENU and pull up that Activity profile again, the screen layout is correct, but the data fields are back to default ones.

Youtube is of no help.

  • I come from a Garmin 500 (10 years old). I set that one up in about 15 minutes (device pairing and custom screen creation).

  • More info.

I can get a Custom Data Screen saved and "associated" with an Activity Profile (I named it Aaa). However, back to the main menu, let's pretend I want to go for a ride. I hit SELECT and can then choose from ROAD or Aaa. I choose Aaa. Yet the screen that comes up only has 3 fields (vs. my 7) and none of those fields are ones I created, selected. They look like defaults.  How do you associate a NEWLY created Activity Profile with a Custom Data Screen?

  • It seems like you’re missing a step somewhere.

When a new profile is created, it will contain a default screen 1 (which can be edited). A new data screen will become screen 2 and the number of fields and their contents can be created. Don’t forget to select “done” when finished editing a screen or it won’t be saved. There are also options in the profile to choose which screens are displayed etc.

When the activity profile is selected, the up and down buttons allow scrolling between different screens in the profile. I think screen1 comes up first unless you change the display order.

  • Ah. The prior "menu" (the one that has Maps, Climbing, etc.) that seemed to have NO -DATA Screen X- entry, once I was finished newly creating a Data Screen, -SCREEN 1- was now present in that list so I thought that was the one that was just created. And it put Screen 1 at the BOTTOM of that prior "menu" so I figured that was definitely it. I did not see anything within an Activity profile that let you select which Data Screen was associated.

EDIT: How cryptic. You need to "reorder" that prior menu and move SCREEN 2 to the very top. Oddly Screen 2 was ABOVE screen 1 (both were at the bottom of the list), but selecting Activity Profile Aaa brought up screen 1.

Definitely selecting DONE as you get that warning popup if you try to exit without saving.

  • Problem solved. Thanks PK55.

This would be easier if when you created any Custom Data Screen you could NAME it.
