Issue with 530 asking me to install update (9.40)

I updated my Garmin 530 after the new update, v9.40 came out. Yet, after that, my unit keeps asking me at startup or at the end of a ride, if I want to go ahead and do the update to v9.40.  Just to be clear, the system info on my 530 says that it is running v9.40 and that no updates are available.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, how do resolve the problem?

    Sidenote:

    Independently whether there is or isnt any gupdate.gcd file in the garmin folder, you can create one fake empty gupdate.gcd  file eg. with a simple text editor in order to avoid getting any updates via BT or wifi. But keep in mind that via usb cable you will get real updates if Garnin Express is running. It may help even in your case

    Yes, I get this. It repeatedly asks me to install 9.40, and then always hangs on the update (blank screen saying 'loader loading'). My device is stuck on 9.10, even though Garmin Express says it's on 9.40 (probably because the device has that update on it, but cannot apply it)
