Is there a way to change the two fields that display with the map at turn information?

When you have navigation on, and you get a pop-up that shows an upcoming turn, there are two data fields displayed at the bottom. I get speed and bearing, which must be the defaults. Is there any way to change those two fields to different ones? I have looked all over but cannot find a place to do that. If you do know how to do this, the best answer i would appreciate is how to navigate the menus on the device to find the place to do that.  Which menu and sub-menu, etc. Thank you.

  • The display is very customizable and you can set how many screens, how many fields (up to 10) per screen, and what is displayed in each field.

The starting point is Menu>Settings>Activity Profiles> Data Screens.

Take a bit of time starting with pages 47 and 48 of the User Guide. I’d also suggest creating another Activity Profile for experiments so you can revert to an existing one if you mess up.

Put your least important data fields in the location that gets obscured by the navigation pop-up.

There are also quite a few You Tube videos that should help.

  • The starting point is Menu>Settings>Activity Profiles> Data Screens.

    More specifically, Menu> Settings> Activity Profiles> Data Screens> Map Screen> Select Layout

  • The starting point is Menu>Settings>Activity Profiles> Data Screens.

    More specifically, Menu> Settings> Activity Profiles> Data Screens> Map Screen> Select Layout

But neither of those allow the OP to actually "change" the two fields on the Navigation Turn Pop-Up screen, there is no option to change that screen in any way other than to disable it completely replacing it with a Text notice at the bottom of the screen

Menu> Settings> Activity Profiles> Navigation > Navigation Prompt > ("Text Only" or "Map")

  • Menu> Settings> Activity Profiles> Data Screens> Map Screen> Field 1 (or Field 2)

should allow you to edit which fields are displayed on the map screen.

Haven't been able to experiment today as to whether these field changes hold for the navigation prompt, or just the general map screen.

  • The data fields that are on the map screen that pops up for navigation prompts cannot be changed.

  • should allow you to edit which fields are displayed on the map screen.

Yes for map screen but does not carry over to the navigation pop-up, those fields are not changeable

  • I've realized that my initial response wasn't addressing the original  question, so it can be ignored.

  • "I get speed and bearing"

That is interesting because on my 530 at the bottom I get which direction that I am headed, ie N, S, W, NE etc and time to the turn. At the top, I get distance to the turn and the name of the street, road etc that I am turning into.

I queried if you can change it a while back but evidently not.

But its odd that your display is different?

  • Thanks indeed for all the answers. I got the answer to my original question, I was specifically interested in the pop-up screen when you are getting a navigation instruction about a coming turn, which has two fields and it seems that those two fields cannot be changed. I did make an error in my original post and indeed the two fields that show for me are also as stated by leginswal, Bearing and time to turn. I'd  like to be able to change the "Bearing" field to something else as i am not really interested in my specific bearing at that point in time.

So, if Garmin engineers ever look at this, i would suggest allowing customization of those two fields in the "navigation map temporary popup screen" just like field customization is allowed for most other displayed fields.
