All my activities are gone!

After each cycle, I normally take a copy of the .fit file and store it alongside any other files from my ride like videos, pics, etc.  To do that I plug the Edge 530 into my PC and manually copy the file using Windows Explorer.

Today when I opened up the Edge the only file present was today's!  I would normally have over two years of files there!  What could have happened?

They are still showing in my account on connect.garmin.com. Why would they physically disappear from my device? There is still plenty of storage space.

    But no response yet. Whether the fault lies with Garmin Express, or Garmin Connect or elsewhere, I do not know. But at least I am not alone now and there may be an issue.

  • I read elsewhere that this is possibly due to an indexing (not storage) limitation?  The other post suggested there was an index limit of 200 activities.  I've just exported mine from Connect and there were 361. Also doesn't explain why today's activity was the only one in the folder when I opened up Explorer, *copied* it over and now it too is no longer there. I have a completely empty Activity folder now.

  • I doubt that this is the case... I rode today and when I check the Activities in the Edge 530, the record was there (only one record as al history were gone)... and when I connect the gadget to Garmin Express, after auto sync, today's record is gone too!.... so, it is totally empty in the Activities folder of the gadget now! disappointing indeed!

  • Also just found this that suggests the 530 activity limit is 200 hours.  Adding up my activities they total 657 hours.  I haven't experienced losing them all before so it's not as though it recycles every 200 hours...

  • Thanks for that. Then as with  @leginswal I will not be using Garmin Express again anytime soon!

  • So I did a scan of the 530 storage and my activities are still there. Albeit deleted.  There are only 181 going back to 23 Oct 2020 whereas Connect goes back to July 2020 (which got me thinking - I don't think I did 180 rides between July and Oct - I think Connect is double counting!  For further investigation)

    So I think I will restore these and back them up and not use Express again until it's established what is happening.

  • There is now a new update of Garmin Express : 7.13.2.0!   I wonder if that will solve this problem!
