Calorie counter

I did a 9km commute in about 25 minutes on a flat road on my single speed. Garmin 530 estimated calorie burn of around 300, which seems a bit high.

If i include chest HR strap and cadence sensor, and if my age/height/weight are inputted correctly, will i get more realistic calorie estimates than this previous one?

I do not have the cash for power meters.

  • A speed or cadence sensor won't make much difference to the accuracy of the calorie estimate.

Reliable HR data will significantly improve the estimate.

Even better would be a power meter, but they can be kinda pricey.
